VIDEO: Toddler and mother rescued from Fayetteville flooding

A toddler and mother were rescued by Fayetteville Police after their car was overtaken by floods.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Dozens of rescues occurred during Hurricane Matthew, including one of a mother and her young child.

Police found the North Carolina woman standing on the side of her car with her child hidden from the rain in her coat. 

Officers lowered a metal ramp onto the hood of the car and walked out to grab the child and then the mother. The child seemed scared while being pulled to safety.

574 people have been rescued from Fayetteville flood waters after Hurricane Matthew spread torrential downpour. Four remain missing.
