16-year-old charged in connection with high-speed chase, robbery

Two people led police on a chase through two counties.

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a teenager in connection with a high-speed chase that ended in Cabarrus County Wednesday evening. 

According to CMPD, a man was robbed at gunpoint at an apartment complex parking lot off of Winterfield Place in east Charlotte. The suspects stole the man's Honda Accord.

CMPD officers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop near I-77. The vehicle, which was occupied by two individuals, refused to stop and a pursuit ensued involving CMPD and NC Highway Patrol.

The suspect vehicle exited I-85 in Concord on George Lyles Parkway. The driver, identified as 16-year-old Dahmeune Isiah Baxter, then stopped the vehicle and both suspects in the car were detained. Baxter was charged with armed robbery, as well as multiple traffic charges. The other individual in the car was not arrested, police said. 

CMPD said the victim of the armed robbery was not injured.
