Get a ‘Taste of Charlotte' this weekend

Hundreds are in uptown, getting a taste of all the food the Queen City has to offer.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It was slow going on Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte Friday, as hundreds of people enjoyed music, people watching, and of course food!

The Taste of Charlotte is a three-day festival with over 100 samplings from local, and regional restaurants. Plus, musical acts, interactive children's activities, cooking demos, and even street performers promise to add to the fun.

"It's great, it's a lot better than Chicago," said Darnesha Evans, who is visiting from the Windy City. "The weather is beautiful. I really like it."

"Everyone's happy and friendly," added Liza Baum visiting from New York. "I think it's great just to be out here."

Admission is free, but parking is not. Organizers say all the parking decks close to the Taste will be open.

The Taste of Charlotte will continue through Sunday evening. This year's festival has grown to over six city blocks.

To sample food patrons must purchase 'coins' at coin booths, then simply visit a booth that looks the best.
