CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police charged a 25-year-old woman in connection with the homicide deaths of Curtis Atkinson Sr. and Ruby Atkinson.
CMPD says detectives obtained two murder warrants on 25-year-old Nikkia Cooper. Cooper was in the custody of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C. but waived extradition and are expected to return to Charlotte Wednesday.
Metropolitan Police arrested Curtis Atkinson, Jr. Sunday after an Amber Alert was launched to find 11-year-old Arieyana Forney, who was last seen in an East Charlotte home she shared with her grandparents. Atkinson was accused of killing Curtis Sr. and Ruby Atkinson, both of whom were his parents.
Atkinson Jr. is also expected to return to Charlotte with Cooper.
