CONCORD, N.C. -- A school bus was involved in a serious accident in Concord Wednesday morning.
The accident happened on Cox Mill Road involving a school bus and second vehicle.
A woman was killed during the collision who was identified as the driver of the second vehicle. A teenager was also in the second vehicle was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries and is currently recovering from the crash.
The woman was identified as 35-year-old Olivia Dawn. Dawn was driving down Cox Mill Road in Concord with a 13-year-old passenger, when she lost control.
"The BMW raveled off the roadway to the right, overcorrected, crossed the center line in to on coming traffic in to the school bus," explained State Trooper Barry Burnette.
Highway Patrol said there was no students on board the bus at the time of the accident. The bus driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Burnette said that accidents are not uncommon due to how winding the roads are.
