Woman killed after being hit by car at The Plaza

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A woman has died after being hit by a car at The Plaza Friday night.

According to CMPD, 67-year-old Brenda Robinson was walking across The Plaza with the assistance of a walker and was struck by a Chrysler 300 driven by 53-year-old Patricia Lea Harris.

The incident occurred around 8:18 p.m. Friday. When police arrived, they found Robinson lying in the roadway.

Robinson was transported to a Carolinas Medical Center and died Sunday at 4:17 p.m. from the injuries she sustained.

Police say that Harris never saw Robinson and that she was not in a crosswalk, the roadway was dark, and she was wearing. Speed and alcohol were not factors.

The crash is under investigation by the Major Crash Investigation Unit of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact Detective Reibold at 704-432-2169 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
