Macon mom: Son beaten by mob for not joining gang

A Bibb County student remained hospitalized Thursday after being jumped by six to 12 students.

The mother of the 14-year-old boy told Bibb County deputies that her son has been having problems with some students at Ballard Hudson Middle School because he refused to join "the 10-12 gang," according to a sheriff's office incident report.

Bibb deputies were dispatched Wednesday just after 2 p.m. to the school in reference to a large fight. As one of the deputies was arriving, they saw campus police officers tending to the 14-year-old child, the incident report states.

The child's mother, Stephanie Milton, was called to the scene and the boy was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His mother told 13WMAZ Thursday that he's suffering from internal bleeding.

13WMAZ's Chelsea Beimfohr is talking to family members and Bibb school officials. She'll have more on this story later.
