NEW YORK (AP) — A man suspected of fleeing the scene of a grisly New York crash that killed a pregnant woman and her husband has been ordered held without bail after his arrest at a Pennsylvania convenience store.
The couple's baby was delivered prematurely after the Sunday crash and died.
Easton's The Express Times newspaper says a judge held a video hearing Wednesday for Julio Acevedo (ah-seh'-VAY'-doh). The judge says Acevedo will be held in Lehigh County Prison in eastern Pennsylvania while awaiting an extradition hearing Thursday to address his return to New York.
Authorities say Acevedo was speeding down a Brooklyn street early Sunday when he crashed into a car carrying the couple. Acevedo has told New York's Daily News he was fleeing a gunman who was trying to shoot at him.
