WAIANAE, Hawaii (AP) — A Hawaii fisherman has an unbelievable fishing tale: a close encounter with a 9-foot shark that jumped dangerously near his kayak. But he has the video to prove it.
Isaac Brumaghim (brew-MAH'-jim) was fishing off the Waianae Coast Sunday when the shark sprang up and chomped on the tuna he was reeling in.
He described Thursday the mix of fear, excitement and disappointment at losing a big catch. The emotions are summed up by the expletive he let out moments later, heard in the footage from the camera on his kayak.
The video shows the shark jumping behind his kayak and the 37-year-old's surprised reaction.
The father of three says there are still many who don't believe his tale, accusing him of doctoring the footage. He's still in shock, himself.
