A former program manager at Microsoft is charged with rape and the alleged crime happened in his office on campus. A company spokesperson says he no longer works for the company.
The victim was a janitor working on the same floor as the suspect.
Prosecutors say the attack happened in Building 27 at 11 p.m. on July 22nd. The woman was cleaning a kitchen on the third floor.
According to charging documents, 36-year-old Vineet Kumar Srivastava got the woman to come into his office and raped her. The victim told police Srivastava threw his condom in the trash then removed the trash from his office.
The victim works for a company called ABM, which handles the janitorial work for the company's campus, according to a Microsoft spokesperson. The victim informed police that she told one of her supervisors, who did not believe her and did not inform authorities. It wasn't until she told a second supervisor that the attacked was reported to police.
Detectives say she had bruises consistent with the attack. After confronting the suspect, they say he admitted to the sexual intercourse with the janitor but claimed she forced him to have sex, not the other way around.
Srivastava is now charged with second degree rape. He could not be reached for comment.
