The State Department has issued a warning for anyone traveling internationally.
The worldwide alert was issued because of an al Qaida threat.
“The Department of State alerts U.S. citizens to the continued potential for terrorist attacks, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, and possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula,” the alert said.
“Current information suggests that al-Qaida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August. This Travel Alert expires on August 31, 2013.”
Thursday, NBC Charlotte reported on a terror threat that prompted the closure of U.S. Embassies in the Middle East.
The travel warning includes Egypt and Israel.
NBC Charlotte will continue following this story, and bring you any updates as we learn them.
