CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities say one person was injured and at least a dozen residents displaced in five fires reported across the Charlotte region on Christmas Day.
The Charlotte Observer reports (http://bit.ly/1cBzMfG) officials said firefighters were called to a blaze in eastern Lincoln County, where a house near Stanley was heavily damaged. About 50 firefighters needed 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. A family of seven was displaced.
A man living in a home north of Monroe in Union County was hurt and hospitalized after suffering burns on his right leg.
Of the three fires in Charlotte, one involved an abandoned house. Four residents and two pets were burned out of their home in another fire, and heavy damage was reported in the third fire late Wednesday night.
