CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A tax driver who was killed when another car hit the cab in southwest Charlotte early Friday morning has been identified.
Authorities said Paul Douglas Miller was killed in two-car accident on Woodlawn Road near Montford Drive around 2 a.m. Friday morning.
Police said Paul was driving for "Speedy Cab" and was making a left turn onto Woodlawn Road when the driver of a BMW slammed into the cab.
Officials said Paul was ejected from the car and died on the way to the hospital.
The driver of the BMW, 23-year-old Justin Miller, fled the scene on foot after the accident but was located moments later by officers.
Justin was treated and released from the hospital. He has been charged with felony death by vehicle, felony hit and run, driving while impaired and driving while license revoked, according to police.
Part of Woodlawn Road near Montford Drive was closed during the accident but reopened around 6:15 a.m.
According to investigators, Miller's license was suspended during the time of the accident due to a pending DUI arrest.
Any witnesses to the accident are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Police said alcohol and speed are factors in the crash.
