CLOVER, S.C. -- More than 20 dogs were taken into custody Monday afternoon after receiving a tip that a Clover family was operating a puppy mill in their yard.
York County Animal Control said they received a call from someone who asked them to investigate conditions of several dogs living at a home.
Many of the 24 dogs were in poor health and suffered from serious skin issues that left them with patchy hair, sores, scabs and scratches, according to animal control officials.
One had to be euthanized because of severe skin issues, according to animal control officials. Several of the dogs will be sent to animal groups to be taken care of.
The owner of the home has not been charged. Animal control officials did not say if or when the dogs could be up for adoption.
