HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – A car accident on Sam Furr Road knocked out power to several businesses and residents on Sunday.

According to emergency officials, the accident happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. at the intersections of Sam Furr Road and Northcross Drive. 

A car ran off the street and into a power pole, according to law enforcement. 

According to Medic, one victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.

NBC Charlotte crews responding to the scene noted that the Arby’s, Food Lion, and a nearby apartment complex were all without power for part of the afternoon.

According to Duke Energy, over 2,000 customers were without power in Mecklenburg County at the time of the crash.

Crews were able to restore the power late Sunday afternoon.
