CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Many area fields are ripe for picking your own strawberries, but did you know that Hall Family Farm is located right in the Ballantyne neighborhood?

Hall Family Farm, 10713 Providence Road West, is located next to the Ballantyne Country Club.

Kevin Hall and his wife, Lara, have been growing strawberries at the Hall Family Farm for the past three seasons. They were worried about their strawberry crop after a long cold winder.

In January they covered two acres of their crops with a cloth to protect them.  Their hard work paid off with a fresh crop of ripe strawberries ready for picking.

"We're only in day nine or 10 of the season," said Kevin Hall of Hall Family Farm.  "We'll have two or three more good weekends of picking and then things might start dwindling down."

If you'd like to pick your own strawberries it's $2.09 a pound or $2.99 a pound ready-picked. Take-home containers are provided.

The farm is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily and there are six picnic tables under a tent for family picnics and a toddler play area.

Directions: Take I-485 to Exit 61 (U.S. 521) and go south on Johnston Road about 1 1/2 miles, then left on Providence Road West. Farm is on the right about 300 yards down, next to Ballantyne Country Club. Look for sign.
