LOWELL, N.C. -- The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a missing teenager.

Michael Tyler Tomlin, 16, was last seen in the 4800 block of Wilkinson Boulevard in Gastonia on Monday evening.

According to the Silver Alert, Michael suffers from dementia, or some other cognitive impairment, and is believed to be endangered.

Officials say Michael is a 5-foot-5 white male, weighing 130 pounds with short brown hair. Michael was last seen wearing a tan t-shirt, blue jeans and blue and green Nike tennis shoes. Michael also has braces.

The Lowell Police Department is leading the investigation.

A photograph of Michael has not yet been released to the media, but one is expected shortly.
