CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- On Tuesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police made an arrest in a sexual assault cold case from 1991.

Back in August 1991 a female victim reported being abducted by two men from the 2600 block of Beechnut Drive. She told authorities she was driven to an unknown location and physically and sexually assaulted before being released.

Detectives with the CMPD Sexual Assault Cold Case Unit were able to identify 42-year-old Drayton Lamar Thompson as a suspect after re-examining DNA evidence from the case.

Thompson faces two counts of first degree rape, two counts of first degree sex offense, kidnapping and felony conspiracy.
