CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Whether you're a beginner who is interested in gardening or a veteran who will never put a store-bought vegetable in your mouth again, the Can You Dig it Charlotte Community Garden Tour is for you.
The Mecklenburg Fruit and Vegetable Coalition is hosting the event for the second year in a row. It is free for everyone, but they ask that you bring along a donation of gardening supplies, from shovels to seeds or anything that can be easily dropped off at the tour.
Attendees will meet at Atherton Mills Market from 8-9 a.m. on Saturday, May 5. There you can shop, pick up a tour map and drop off donations.
The first stop on the tour will be Wilmore Gardens. From there, the tour will visit Country Club Heights Garden and Central United Methodist Church Garden. The last stop will be Winterfield Garden, with keynote speaker Henry Owen of Friendship Gardens.
After the tour concludes around 12 p.m., there will be a Garden Gathering where you can watch garden and cooking demonstrations and enjoy live music. Be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Feel free to bring your own lunch or you can purchase food from Tin Kitchen and The Herban Legend food trucks.
