CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- A candidate for Hickory City Council is accused of taking indecent liberties with a child.
Joseph Brannock will appear in court on Monday. His bond was set at $41,500.
Brannock lists himself as a Catawba County substitute teacher on his campaign’s facebook page.
The Hickory Daily Record reports he was arrested at the Catawba County Schools Administration building Friday, and that his accuser is a girl younger than 16-years-old.
Sheriff Coy Reid confirmed the arrest and charges, but stated he couldn’t release any additional details about the case.
NBC Charlotte’s attempts to contact Brannock for comment were not immediately returned.
