CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- There was a lot of cheering at the Charlotte Bobcats practice court in uptown Thursday as the team played host to more than 100 Special Olympics athletes from around the state.
“We’ll give them a tip or two but for the most part just have fun and enjoy it,” said point guard Ramon Sessions.
“It’s a real humbling experience, puts things in perspective. It’s not all about basketball—put smiles on people faces. It’s a joy for us,” said Kemba Walker.
Lashanna Studivant is a caretaker for one of the Special Olympics athletes.
“To see the smile on her face, her being so excited, to meet the Bobcats--this is an awesome day,” Studivant said.
