CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One day after its national release, Elevation Church’s newest worship album, “Nothing is Wasted,” has topped the Christian music chart.  What Elevation did not forsee, is that it is the fifth most downloaded album on iTunes as of today.

"We were surprised. We had no idea it would do what it did," said Wade Joye, Worship Pastor at Elevation.

The top five spot is fitting for this is the church’s fifth album.  It is, however, Elevation’s first national release and first top 10 hit on the overall iTunes music chart.

Wade says most listeners are downloading the two-disc deluxe edition. Lead Pastor Steven Furtick’s recent book, “Greater” also saw national success debuting number four on the New York Times best-seller list.  Every song on the album was inspired and written for each chapter of the book.

“So the more we stay tied in to what God is doing in our church, the easier the songs flowed and the more powerful they were when we lead them in our church,” added Wade.

Worship Leader Chris Brown is among the 75 musicians who make up Elevation’s music ministry.

“I think when people look in and see our worship team, they really do see, here are people who love Jesus, who love celebrating what they are doing in their lives and excited to play music together,” Brown said.

The entire team spent Tuesday taking part in a 12-hour-long album launch of sorts.  Interviews and live performances were streamed live on the church’s own online network.  Brown says all remain dedicated in using music to spread God’s word.

"We want to make them feel welcome in our worship experience and if that is hearing a live band they heard on the radio and they come to Elevation and see us on the weekend,  and connect with that little bit, we are happy,” noted Brown.

More than 12,000 people attend Elevation Church weekly.  The church was started just six years ago, and has grown to seven locations in the Charlotte area.

The team is already working on a sixth album.
