CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The cooler temperatures have moved into the Charlotte region.
Charlotte reached 19 degrees this morning. The coldest temperature of this year's winter season.
"It will be chilly today," Larry Sprinkle said. "It will only be 42 for our higher temperature this afternoon."
A weak low pressure system will just miss the Carolinas tonight. Clouds from that system will only push Thursday morning temperatures into the upper 20s.
This afternoon will be mostly sunny and cold with highs in the low 40s. Very dry air with dew points in the single digits, according to the First Warn Storm Team.
Tonight's temperatures will fall into the upper 20s with partly cloudy skies.
That same weak low pressure system will bring the chance for winter weather on Friday.
"Friday morning we do have a chance of sleet and freezing rain," Larry Sprinkle said. " We'll certainly look at the problems that we could have and into the afternoon [on Friday]."
