CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- On December 11, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced an arrest in a 1991 sexual assault cold case. On Friday, authorities say DNA evidence has linked that same man to two more cold cases in the same year.

Drayton Lamar Thompson, 42, is now facing an additional six counts of first degree rape, three counts of first degree sex offense, one count of first degree kidnapping and one count of second degree kidnapping for his alleged role in the two cases.

The two new cases also occurred in 1991; one took place in the 1300 block of LaSalle Street, the second in the 900 block of Beatties Ford Road.

As in the first case, the victims reported being abducted by two male suspects, being driven to an unknown location where they were sexually assaulted. Then, the victims reported being driven to another location where they were let go.

Thompson is already in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office from the first arrest just 10 days ago.
