GASTONIA, N.C. -- Neighbors in Gastonia who have been facing a year-long maggot infestation near their homes are finally getting help.

Tenants at the Davis Hill Apartments say a hole in an old dumpster sitting right next to the complex was attracting the bugs.

NBC Charlotte contacted Gillespie Properties who told us the rainy weather was to blame for repair delays.

"That’s too close to the house isn't it that's why the maggots crawl right under there and crawl right to the apartments,” said resident Charles McNeal.

As soon as our crews left the scene, the property owner finally ordered those dumpsters to be replaced.
