CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire in east Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon.

Right around 3:15, fire crews from the Charlotte Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Shamrock Drive in east Charlotte.

When crews initially responded, officials say flames and smoke were visible from the structure.
NBC Charlotte's Ben Thompson has learned that firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within a half hour, and that most of the fire damage was contained to one corner unit.

Several other units sustained water and smoke damage.

The fire appears to have started in a storage room in the corner unit, fire officials say.

Investigators believe this may be a case of arson. They have not yet identified any suspects.
