CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A restaurant that was damaged in a late November fire is continuing to pay employees, despite the fact that the restaurant is still closed for repairs.
A Nov. 30 fire at the Firebirds restaurant in the Ballantyne area caused $200,000 worth of damage.
On Thursday, representatives from the restaurant issued a press release announcing that in the spirit of the holiday season they would pay hourly employees their usual wages, plus compensation for lost tips.
Salaried managers will continue to receive their salary and benefits in full.
Crews have been working around the clock to repair the restaurant and they anticipate reopening just after Christmas.
