GASTONIA, N.C. -- Gastonia officials are investigating a fire that broke out at a Freightliner plant early Thursday morning.
Gastonia Fire Department was dispatched to Freightliner on Tulip Drive for a commercial business fire.
The first arriving engine encountered heavy smoke and called a second alarm, according to officials. The fire was deep within the building, involving the filtration system of a multi-unit welding area.
The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes.
Estimated equipment damage is $75,000 to $100,000, no significant damage to the building. The manager estimated $1 million of lost production time, according to officials.
There were no reported injuries.
