CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- More than half of the students at CMS schools are living in poverty.

They need help this Thanksgiving as many students only get fed at school, so holiday breaks are especially tough.

A local non-profit called A Child's Place is working to make sure they're all taken care of.  But they need sponsors to provide funding.

"These gift card sponsorships are to get those perishable items if they want to do a holiday meal or just to get food to get through that break," said Annabelle Suddreth with A Child's Place.

Folks can sign up to sponsor a family or volunteer time by going to www.achildsplace.org.
