Huntersville home destroyed by fire on frigid night

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- A Huntersville family lost their home on the coldest night of the year.

The Fire broke out at a home on McDiarmid Lane around 1 a.m. Tuesday. When firefighters arrived the home was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters had to battle the fire in frigid temperatures and were covered in ice at times. The fire started in the back of the home and quickly spread to the attic.

Medic was on scene to assist with any issues, but no injuries were reported.
 
The Huntersville Fire Department was able to put the fire out but say the home is destroyed.The three people living there were able to get out unharmed.
 
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
