CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A York woman filed a police report Monday after someone threw a large rock at her car in southwest Charlotte.

Felicia Russell said she was driving home from work late Monday night in the 13600 block of South Tryon Street heading toward the Lake Wylie area.

She said someone threw a softball-sized rock through her front windshield between Highway 160 and Shopton Road, narrowly missing her face.

"It was really scary," Russell said.  "I drive that pretty often late at night.  I’m always watching out for animals.  I never thought to look for someone who would do something like that."

Russell, a mother of two, did not immediately stop for fear of being attacked, so she drove a little while longer down the road and called police.

There are no known suspects at this time, and Russell was not hurt but knows it could have been worse.

"It could have ended a totally different way."
