CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Sunday afternoon a man who made a big impact on local education was remembered.
Friends, former co-workers, and students turned out at Greenville Memorial AME Zion church in Charlotte to celebrate the life of Leroy "Pop" Miller.
He died last week at the age of 94.
Pop Miller retired as principal of East Mecklenburg High in 1982. He was instrumental in bringing the first black students into East Meck in the early 70s.
He was also a World War II veteran earning four bronze stars.
