CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this year, a loaded gun was found in a passenger’s bag at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Monday.
A loaded .22 revolver was discovered by security officers in a passenger’s carry-on around 3:45 p.m.
The name of the suspect has not been released, but passengers who bring guns to a checkpoint face a TSA penalty as well as local criminal charges. Guns are allowed to be transported in checked baggage, an airport official noted.
“We continue to remind passengers of the importance of looking through carry-on bags to ensure there are no prohibited items inside,” said TSA spokesman Jon Allen in a statement.
