CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The dining-out options in Charlotte's Belmont neighborhood just got a bit slimmer; the Mexican-inspired grill, Loco Lime, has announced they're closing their doors.
Just off Central Avenue and Hawthorne Lane, where the Elizabeth, Plaza Midwood and Belmont Neighborhood-lines meet, diners would find Loco Lime sharing a building with burger joint Kickstand.
"Yelpers" raved about the restaurant's Taco Tuesday $1 taco special.
But if you visited Loco Limes' website, you weren't greeted with daily drink and food specials, but rather a notice from management stating that all of the business is now closed for good.
"Team Loco" writes:
With heavy hearts we regret to inform you that Loco Lime is closed for business effective immediately. It’s been a great run and we are so proud of the work we’ve put in here. It’s time for us to move on and focus on other ventures. We’d like to thank our regulars. You made us. You kept us going. We’d like to thank our employees, past and present. You made us. You kept us going. We’d like to thank the surrounding neighborhoods and communities that embraced us during the past few years, Plaza Midwood and Elizabeth in particular. You made us. You kept us going. We’d like to thank the entire Charlotte restaurant scene, a vibrant, inspiring and expanding culture. We may have been a flash in the pan, but we think we contributed some excellence to that culture. This isn’t fun news to share. Now, we move on.
Thank you, everyone.
It's not clear by the posting what exactly caused the restaurant to shut down, and there's no word on what may replace the establishment in the future.
