CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Think of the Ballantyne area as packed with kids and teens? You’re about half right.
More than half of the area’s residents are families without children at home, according to new research from Nielsen Claritas. Some are couples whose children have grown. Other residents are DINK’s – double income, no kids.
In response to this trend, M/I Homes Charlotte has opened a new neighborhood in the community of Ardrey Crest to appeal to the area’s changing and varied demographics. Nearly 58% of households within a three-mile radius are families without children.
“Families without children are a growing population in the Ballantyne area,” says Tamara Lynch, vice president of sales and marketing for M/I Homes Charlotte. “We’ve built in amenities designed to please this underserved demographic, while also appealing to families with children at home."
At prices starting under $225,000 – unusual for new homes in the Ballantyne area – Ardrey Crest offers charming exteriors, including the option of a Charleston-style porch or second-floor balcony.
The home plans feature attached garages, covered lanais and second-floor decks, spacious interiors and easy-to-maintain yards. One plan, the Garfield, has an option for two master bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, to meet the needs of families who have older parents or grandparents living with them.
Homes are 100% Energy Star-qualified, which can allow homeowners to save as much as 30% on their energy bills now and in the future. Top-rated schools are less than a mile away. The neighborhood is close to shopping at Blakeney and to I-485. Other amenities include a pool, cabana, playground, and bocce ball field.
The model home for Ardrey Crest is located off Wade Ardrey Road in South Charlotte. Take I-485 to Exit 59, Rea Road. Drive south two miles and turn right on Ardrey Kell. Drive one mile and turn left on Wade Ardrey. Ardrey Crest is approximately .7 miles on the left.
