HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- It's 8 a.m. at the Huntersville Post Office on Gilead Road and dozens of mail carriers are sorting mail getting ready to make their rounds; including Chris Bishop.
Bishop has been a mail carrier for eight years and says he's pretty dedicated to his job, his dedication was tested earlier this week.
Bishop is back at work less than 12 hours after he was pinned down by part of a massive tree during severe weather on Monday.
"Went out to do my route," he remembers. "Rain got a little heavy, figured I had to get done with the route so I could get out of the storm myself."
But he didn't quite make it. He jumped out of his truck to drop off a package to a house on Sandowne Lane when it happened.
"I heard a large crack and was under a tree," he said.
He couldn't move under the weight of the tree, but was eventually rescued by neighbors who heard the noise and saw parts of Bishop sticking out from under part of the tree.
"Thanks to those guys and the paramedics, they did their job and took a lot of precaution."
Bishop was taken to the Presbyterian Hospital and treated and released with only minor injuries.
