CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Jerry White has been in trouble more than he's been out of it--and now he’s back in jail again.
Last April the 42-year-old Charlotte man tried to abduct a 3-year-old boy near Frazier Park. The only thing standing in his way was the child’s mother.
“Everything went so quickly, my only thinking was I’ve got to hold on to him as hard as I can and scream,” said Anna McCall.
White was arrested and pleaded guilty to assault last August. He was sentenced to 120 days in Jail.
Early Thursday morning he found himself in trouble again. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested him for raping and kidnapping a woman in her thirties in the Five Points area off Rozzelles Ferry Road.
Investigators said he dragged her behind some businesses where he sexually assaulted her.
White has a very long record--since 1998 he’s been arrested more than 100 times and pleaded guilty 69 times.
“It really makes me wonder about the legal system and how he is able to get out and why isn’t he behind bars,” said Jessica Kendall, a friend of McCall.
The vast majority of the charges against White are minor alcohol-related offenses. Kendall hopes this will be the crime that gets him sent away for a long time.
“I have a 5-year-old daughter and 5-month-old little boy. I’m scared,” she said.
