GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) -- The town of McAdenville is ready to flip the switch on its annual Christmas tradition.
The Gaston Gazette reports a crew of five Pharr Yarns employees has been setting up the lights and is on schedule and ready for the official tree lighting ceremony on Monday,
Mel Collins, vice president of human resources at Pharr Yarns, says there are hundreds of thousands of lights strung through Christmastown USA. Collins said as trees have grown, more strands of lights have been added for this year's display.
While tourists can drive through town to view the display beginning Monday, the lights were turned on the first time on Saturday for participants in the Christmastown 5K race and 1-mile walk.
