CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The NCDOT is working on a blueprint for improving walking and biking across the state, and they want your help.

You can weigh in on the state's first draft of the Walk Bike NC plan.  The state says the plan has several benefits including promoting physical health and reducing traffic congestion.

"It's going to cut down on pollution, it's going to cut down of emissions from vehicles," said Tim Boland with the DOT.

The plan also has some unexpected benefits.  The state says more greenways boost the economy.   Kevin Potts works at Don's Tennis Accessories.

The shop used to be on Moorehead Street, but recently relocated to the just off the Little Sugar Creek Greenway.

"Since we moved here we have got a lot more traffic, just from people walking on the greenway," said Potts.

According to Boland, commenting on the new Walk Bike NC Plan, is a way to be part of the positive change here in the Queen City.

"This is a good opportunity to get you voice heard and a lot of our best ideas come from the public obviously."
