PINEVILLE, N.C. -- It’s 40,000 square feet of high flying fun at the all new Sky High Sports in Pineville. It’s where kids and adults who want to be kids are letting loose.
“This is awesome. I’ve only been on a small trampoline before, and I was flying,” beamed Rob Lech, a statuesque man of over six feet and 250 pounds.
It’s a place where no experience is necessary to jump on the dozens of trampolines which lay horizontal, and lean up against the walls, sectioned off by pads. Just sign a waiver and you’re good to go.
Another jumper, a petite woman dressed all in black named Simone McDowell took a break after a few minutes to catch her breath.
“I’m already sweating, and you don’t really think you’re burning calories because you’re having such a good time,” McDowell said.
Owner Jerry Raymond founded Sky High six years ago in California. There are now more than a dozen locations across the country.
“Charlotte has a great demo for families, and it really fit in with what we push here, which is that family atmosphere,” Raymond. “I feel I did my job as a parent today, to get [my kids] off video games, to [here] where they can sweat their butts off, having fun.”
In addition to the main trampoline area, there’s a trampoline foam pit and a trampoline dodge ball court—a great way to let out some pent-up aggression and burn a lot of calories.
“You don’t think about the calories because you’re thinking about how much fun you’re having! You’re laughing and smiling while sweating your butt off, and you can lose 1,000 calories in a 55-minute class and not even know it,” added Raymond.
