FORT MILL, S.C. -- The Fort Mill Police Department says a former Parent Teacher Organization treasurer turned herself in following allegations of breach of trust.

Two board members for the Pleasant Knoll Elementary School PTO reported to the Fort Mill Police Department their suspicions that Sherry Elizabeth Slate converted PTO funds in the amount of $35,147 for her own personal use during her time as treasurer.

Slate was charged by the Fort Mill Police Department based on those allegations, and police are investigating.

Authorities say Slate is accused of converting the organization's funds between the dates of December 14, 2011 and April 8, 2013.

Slate turned herself in Wednesday morning.

She's charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent with a value of more than $10,000.
