HICKORY GROVE, S.C. – Authorities in York County are trying to find the person responsible for shooting and killing a valuable Alpaca sometime last week.

Officers arrived at a home off Walnut Grove Road in Hickory Grove Saturday afternoon to find a woman’s Alpaca with a bullet hole in its shoulder.

The owner of the animal said it was pregnant and worth about $10,000.  She also said she thought someone shot the animal while deer hunting from the Worth Mountain Game Management Property.

“The Alpaca was in (the owner's) pasture laying beside the fence that joins the game manage property,” the police report states.

No one has been charged with shooting the animal at this time.
