CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- St. Patrick’s Day is almost here. Charlotte has plenty going on. Make sure to follow each link to learn the details of the event.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Saturday, 11 a.m. Charlotte’s 17th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off at Tryon & 9th Street at 11am. It then marches south to 3rd Street where it takes a left and marches down 3rd St. to Caldwell. Last year over 80,000 spectactors watched the parade. Free.
Charlotte Goes Green Festival: Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. The Charlotte Goes Green Festival runs from 10am to 6:30pm on South Tryon St. between 1st St & 3rd Streets. It features Irish music, Irish dancers, bagpipers, Irish/Celtic and other vendors, a large children’s amusement area and plenty of food & beverages. Free.
Green River Revival: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The U.S. Whitewater Center’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival starts with a 5K at 9am, and features live music in the afternoon. At 1pm the whitewater river will turn green. The festival is free. There’s a charge for parking, the 5K and other activities at the USNWC.
Latta Celtic Festival: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Historic Latta Plantation is hosting a Celtic Festival featuring live music and dancing, Celtic re-enactors and food and drink. Admission: $7 Adults $6 Seniors $5 Students Children 5 and under free.
Rich & Bennett’s 13th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl: Start between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Your admission charge gets you a t-shirt, koozie and admission into the many participating bars. ZINGO is offering free and discounted rides home (they get your car home too) to people wearing a pub crawl t-shirt. Please figure out your ride (whether with ZINGO or otherwise) before you start drinking. After a couple of bars your judgment will be unreliable. $20 at one of the pre-registrations, $25 online, and $30 the day of the event. Follow the above link for full details. St. Patrick’s Day Party with Live Music: Sunday, 7 p.m. This party at Independence place, 3501 East Independence Boulevard features live music and green things to eat. Performing will be smooth jazz recording artist Anitra Jay, Lawrence Calvin, Ron Morrow, Tom Creech, Diane Buys and Paula Helms. Free.
