TEGA CAY, S.C. -- Heavy rains caused yet another sewage overflow in Tega Cay.

Residents were notified of a sanitary sewer overflow that made its way into Lake Wylie on Sunday morning.

Tega Cay Water Service officials say heavy rainfall prompted the overflow.

A manhole on Manawa Lane overflowed and drained into the cove between Point Clear Drive and Marquesas Avenue, according to Tega Cay Water Service.

The site has been cleaned, and lime has been applied to the impacted areas, authorities say. South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control confirms the bacterial levels have returned to normal.

However, no swimming signs have been posted, and officials advise citizens to avoid contact with the lake until further notice.
