LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- Authorities say three minors are responsible for the massive fire at a textile mill in Lincolnton last week.

The fast-moving fire heavily damaged the old Massapoag Mill last Monday night, but fortunately, there were no injuries.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says three juveniles, two females and one male, have admitted to being in the old mill, and dropping lit candles that caused the fire.

Authorities continued that the juveniles stated the fire was an accident, and they feared coming forward.

As of now, the three minors will not face criminal charges for the fire, but will face criminal charges in a juvenile court for breaking and entering and larceny.

The names of those involved will not be released.

The mill had been condemned for years, and both the fire department and residents say building was used to store items.
