LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- A registered sex offender was charged with going into a school in violation of his sex offender status, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies charged Michael Wayne Perry, 58, with one felony count of sex offender at or near a child premises.
Deputies said Perry went to East Lincoln Middle School on January 31 with his wife to check a student out of school.
Authorities were alerted of the incident and charged Perry Tuesday night, according to the sheriff's office.
Perry was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
