CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Some of the Queen City's less fortunate will be warmer tonight, thanks to US Airways.
The airline donated 3,000 blankets Wednesday morning to the Men's Shelter of Charlotte. The blankets are from the US Airways' Business Class.
A spokesperson says they were in storage, and it made sense to bring them to the shelter, where they're most needed.
The airline has partnered with the shelter for years, supporting the non-profit through monthly volunteer efforts.
The shelter's executive director says a donation, like the blankets, is incredibly helpful. He says the blankets will go to men who come to the shelter after leaving the hospital.
"'When we don't have to purchase items that we use, it's a big cost saver for use. And that's one of the things that US Airways has been really good about is finding cost savers for us," said the men's shelter executive director Carson Dean
According to the airline, US Airways has donated more than $100,000 to the Men's Shelter of Charlotte.
