HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – An eight inch water main break disrupted services to customers in Huntersville early Saturday.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department said customers and residents in the Birkdale Village area were impacted by the water main break.

Officials said the cause of the eight inch water main break is not known, but in order to make repairs they needed to shut off water lines to several retail and dining establishments.

Crews were working on the break since midnight. Twelve hours later, officials said the emergency repair was complete and water service was restored to all customers by early afternoon.
