ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- The wife of a murdered volunteer firefighter in Kannapolis has given birth to a healthy baby.

Marcus Kauffman’s wife Maryann delivered her newborn son, Marcus Landon Trace, on Valentine's Day.

“Thanks so much for the prayers. He's finally here!! Marcus Landon Trace. My handsome little guy. I'm so in love already!” she posted to the Praying for Marco Facebook page.

Marcus weighs 7 lbs. 5 oz. and is 21 inches long.

Marcus Kauffman was removed from life support in December and died shortly after. Police say he was shot when he and his wife returned home from a trip to find men stealing from his house. Dewayne McClelland and Daquan Turner are charged with first-degree murder. Tramel Hart and Michael Teasley face accessory charges.
