CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A stray kitten that took up residence at a south Charlotte business is no longer suffering from a broken hip.

NewsChannel 36 reporter Michelle Boudin met the kitten, called "FABO Kitty," in December.

The owner of FABO Cafe adopted the kitten after it showed up at the business with a broken hip.

A veterinarian said the kitten needed surgery and customers stepped in, donating money to help FABO Kitty.

On Monday, the kitten went in for surgery and the veterinarian found that her hip had healed. FABO Kitty was spayed and is now recovering.

All of the money raised for the kitten's hip surgery will go to Carolinas Paws, an animal rescue organization.
